Is capital goods a good career path?

For finding the answer, it is rather complicated to say the least that what it is. But, it can be said that capital goods is a relative career path that depends on its performance in an industrial scale that is solely based on economy. So yes the capital goods is a good career path but if the circumstances or economy is in not so good condition that it can have drastic effects.

In accordance to several statistics namely done by bureau of labor. There are about more than 1 million jobs available in capital goods industry.

Capital good is an industrial part or a category of stocks related to distribution of goods. It is also deals with the manufacture of items/goods as well. So, in general there are two goods sector. One is consumer goods and the other one is capital goods sector. The capital goods are items that can be manufactured to produce a consumer good or a final product. The sector is diversified into electrical equipment, military and engineering projects etc.

What are examples of capital goods?

There are number of examples of capital goods, few of them are:

  • Automotive:  assembling cars, trucks and other land vehicle.
  • Aerospace: airplanes, jets, helicopters and other aerial vehicle.
  • Chemical:  mineral, oil, coal and natural gas.
  • Steel: stainless steels
  • Textile: cotton, wool, nylon and others.

Jobs available in capital goods sector:

Normally the average salary ranges from $70,000 to $100,000 per annum in jobs that are found in capital goods sector. It also depends on number of experience and education in the field as well. Few examples of top 3 jobs in capital goods sector are:

Manufacturing Technician:

Their main job is setting up the equipment for running or to be operational. Their work revolves around technical tasks like inspecting and testing products or assemblies. It also deals in detail with checking and maintenance of machinery.

An average technician earns $48,000 per annum.

Manufacturing Engineering:

Seemingly or precisely the highest paid job in capital goods sector. They supervise the process of manufacturing and assembling. Their main responsibilities include finding faults and improving the mistakes done in equipment or process. Apart from this an engineer also oversees production and efficiency of process. Further they use different ideas to innovate the process.

An average engineer earns $80,000 per annum.

Quality Control Inspector:

The main aspect of every process revolves around its quality hence a quality inspection is must. Hence, the job of a quality control inspector is at finding that every standards of quality are to be met. The standards includes material used, specifications and processes that are to be reviewed by the quality inspector with every attention to detail.

An average quality control inspector earns $40,000 per annum.
